Service Description

"Over the past couple of years I have seen my daughter blossom with self esteem and talent under the guidance of Sarah Kate. Sarah Kate has a fun and engaging style that has made a lasting impression on my daughter and she has given her the tools to sing and play piano beautifully." - Jeff, parent "Sarah Kate has been my daughter’s vocal coach for about ten months and is awesome! Not only does she have amazing talent in singing and piano, but she is a super patient and encouraging teacher. My daughter has learned so much and has so much fun! I highly recommend Sarah Kate." Susan, parent Hi, there. I'm Sarah Kate, and I would love to be your/your child's teacher. I have been a voice, cello, beginning piano, and beginning guitar instructor for many years. I genuinely adore nurturing a love of music in my students and watching them soar! My goal is to make learning music enjoyable, relaxed, and productive. Music is supposed to be FUN, and that's how I like teach. I tell students that their lessons are "judgment-free zones," so they can relax. I teach a variety of styles of singing. Pop, musical theater, and classical are probably my most requested genres from students. I focus on good technique and, generally, allow the student to choose what they would like to sing. However, I'm always available to make suggestions if deciding is difficult. For cello, I love the Suzuki method, so that is generally what I use to teach (unless a student would prefer to go a different direction). I appreciate Suzuki's focus on excellent tone and technique. For piano, I teach beginner through intermediate levels using the Faber method. I've found it engaging and enjoyable for students! I graduated summa cum laude from Centenary College with a degree in Vocal Performance and Cello (and also studied piano as part of my coursework). I became certified in music therapy, which is when I began seriously studying and performing guitar along with furthering my piano training. I've worked with students from ages 5 - senior adults, so please don't hesitate to reach out if I can help!
